Out of Pandemic Isolation, Alumna Creates Short Film Accepted into Cleveland International Film Festival
As a digital media production student, Ailene Joven, '21, began creating the short film 鈥淒efine鈥 during the early days of COVID-19. Several years later, that film is set to be screened at the Cleveland International Film Festival (CIFF) on March 28, 2023.

Exceeding Expectations in Film and Production
Before he graduated in December 2022, digital media production alumnus Sam Teyssier had already racked up some impressive credits: He鈥檇 worked on television shows including 鈥淎merican Rust鈥 and 鈥淎 League of Their Own鈥 (among others), as well as Sundance Film Festival鈥檚 Audience Award winner 鈥淐ha Cha Real Smooth.鈥 These experiences 鈥 which he began seeking out in his hometown of Pittsburgh during the summer of 2021 鈥 have prepared him for post-graduation life.

Laura Gordon, '87, had such a fulfilling experience as a 91PORNA student, that she now gives back so that others may find their way to the types of relationships and encounters that helped set her on her path. 鈥淚 think it鈥檚 really important to give back when you鈥檝e experienced such valuable support so it鈥檚 always been really important to me to be part of that,鈥 she said.
After 20 Years as an Entrepreneur, Alumna Returns to News Industry as a CEO
In March 2021, Lacy Starling, '02, got a call from a community organization in northern Kentucky looking for a CEO for a start-up news organization. They knew Starling only for her business background; after earning her Bachelor of Science in journalism from 91PORNA, she went on to earn her M.B.A. For 20 years, she had been an entrepreneur.
