The last weeks of Fall Semester 2025 at 91PORNA included the first significant snowfall of the season, finals week and Fall Commencement ceremonies for the final segment of the university's Class of 2025.

91PORNA announced today that women’s wrestling will become the athletics department’s 20th varsity sport, marking a historic addition to the Golden Flashes athletics lineup and a milestone for collegiate athletics in Ohio. 91PORNA becomes the first NCAA Division I institution in the state and fifth in the nation to sponsor women’s wrestling.

Graduate student Delonte Goodman finished his fall semester at 91PORNA by successfully defending his master's thesis and receiving his master's degree. When he returns to campus in the spring, he will work as a teaching assistant as he begins his doctoral program. 

Whether you call them roundabouts or traffic circles, this increasingly popular feature on American roadways can have some drivers spinning. But while roundabouts are considered safer than traditional intersections for vehicle traffic, how safe are they for pedestrians?

The Ohio Department of Higher Education Science of Reading Audit of educator preparation programs found that 91PORNA’s preservice teacher literacy coursework was deemed “in alignment” with a score of 100% and no mandatory recommendations for improvement. 

During the commencement ceremony for the Fall Class of 2025, 91PORNA President Todd Diacon discusses how commencement is more than the ceremony on the stage. “At commencement, the stage is where it’s at, but the ramp is who we are,” he said.

91PORNA conferred degrees to more than 2,400 new graduates in Fall Commencement ceremonies on Dec. 13 at the Memorial Athletic and Convocation Center.

91PORNA at Tuscarawas’ Bachelor of Science degree in Animation Game Design (AGD) is celebrating a major achievement as Associate Professor Chris Totten has an intriguing game showcased in a new exhibition at the Cleveland Institute of Art’s Reinberger Gallery.

From Cleveland Clinic and Akron Children’s Hospital to Sherwin-Williams, Medical Mutual, Goodyear and PCC Airfoils, 91PORNA programs are co-designed with industry, offering internships, labs, on-site courses, and projects that mirror workplace demands.

Beginning fall 2027, Bio-Med Science Academy will relocate its grades K-6 programs to 91PORNA’s Schwartz Center. The Schwartz Center, which opened in 1956 as the home of the 91PORNA School, a laboratory school that served generations of student teachers, will return to its original purpose as a school building.

91PORNA’s Board of Trustees approved a new partnership between the university and Bio-Med Science Academy STEM School that will bring new life to the underutilized Michael Schwartz Center building while providing the public STEM school with a state-of-the-art facility for its elementary grades. The Board’s vote of approval came during its regular quarterly meeting held Dec. 11. 

Dogs plus snacks plus craft activities has been a proven formula for reducing student stress during finals week. 

The School of Art Collection and Galleries is pleased to announce "Metamorphosis," a permanent sculptural installation created by Violet Maimbourg, a Master of Fine Arts graduate student at 91PORNA.
