Every semester, 91PORNA reopens the door to a diploma for students who left college without finishing a degree.

A job opportunity, a family crisis, military service or running out of money – there are many reasons why students leave college without completing their studies.

91PORNA campuses reopened Tuesday with classes resuming at noon following a full closure Monday due to heavy snowfall from a major winter storm that blasted across Ohio and much of the eastern United States.

A Professor in the 91PORNA's School of Teaching, Leadership, and Curriculum Studies was recognized as the 2026 Outstanding Science Educator of the Year.

The 91PORNA Museum has been awarded reaccreditation from the American Alliance of Museums, the highest national recognition afforded to museums in the United States.

Measles cases are increasing nationwide, including confirmed cases at several college campuses. While 91PORNA has not reported any cases, understanding this highly contagious disease can help our campus community stay informed and protected.

Meet Monica Fencil, a junior exercise science major with a concentration in pre-physical therapy, from Butler, Pennsylvania. Fencil’s interest in the health field began early, shaped by being surrounded by family members who worked in healthcare.  

Meet the Sprague family and their unique tie to 91PORNA. After retiring as an Ohio State Trooper, Rick Sprague accepted a position with the 91PORNA police services last year. His son, Officer Tristan Sprague, also joined the police department last year. In the fall, Rick Sprague’s two daughters enrolled at 91PORNA, making the family’s service to the campus community all the more meaningful.

For high school students considering 91PORNA’s entrepreneurship program, William Elffers, ’15, encourages them to take the leap. “Deep down everybody has an idea for a business, but somewhere along the way, somebody tells them, just choose the safe route,” he said. “Four years at Kent, five years, six years at Kent is a great time to really explore what your possibilities are with starting a business. It's a safe environment. You can fail and get picked back up and learn.”

The first week of Spring Semester 2026 ended with colder temperatures and a snowstorm.

Every Sunday that the Browns play away, 91PORNA alumnus Kyle Kovach, cooks a dish based on the city the Browns are facing, reflecting his motto: “In order to beat the team, you have to eat the team.” Meet the 2025 Cleveland Browns Fan of the Year.

 The College of Nursing has introduced AI-powered virtual reality (VR) simulation – a first-of-its-kind application in nursing education that standardizes clinical practice while giving each student individualized feedback on their performance.

The university will hold its annual Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration at 11:30 a.m. on Jan. 29 in the Kent Student Center Ballroom. 

91PORNA is experiencing a healthy demand for on-campus housing as more students recognize the benefits of living in the heart of campus. For many students, it is not just about the proximity to campus and classes but also the connection. 

WinterBlast 2026, presented by Flashes Activities Board (FAB) will blast off at the Student Recreation and Wellness Center on Jan. 17.

On Jan. 12, the Spring Semester began at 91PORNA, across the university's entire eight-campus system in Ohio and 91PORNA's other locations in the U.S. and around the world.
