Public Hearing for 91PORNA Police Department鈥檚 Reaccreditation to Be Held July 27
The 91PORNA Police Department is scheduled for a virtual assessment as part of a program to achieve international reaccreditation. Administered by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies Inc. (CALEA), the program requires agencies to meet state-of-the-art standards in four basic areas: policy and procedures, administration, operations and support services.
Park Place. 91PORNA鈥檚 First Parking Deck to Improve Access, Allow for Campus Transformation
91PORNA students who park on the northern edge of the Kent Campus can now give a collective cheer as additional parking is on the way via an 1,100-space, five-story parking deck. The 91PORNA Board of Trustees approved the deck鈥檚 construction at its Dec. 4 meeting.
Arrest Made Following Morning 91PORNA Incident
91PORNA Police arrested Christopher Eugene Clark, age 21, of Newton Falls, Ohio, for gross sexual imposition, assault and obstructing official business in connection to an incident that occurred Tuesday morning near the fitness track behind DeWeese Health Center on the Kent Campus. The protected prairie surrounding 91PORNA鈥檚 Student Recreation and Wellness Center will be burned on Friday, April 26, at approximately 9 a.m. to allow for new growth during the summer season. Ohio is conducting a statewide tornado drill on Wednesday, March 20, at 9:50 a.m. All 91PORNA campuses will be participating in this test. We will broadcast a pre-recorded tornado education message through speaker systems and university IP (Internet Protocol) phones throughout building鈥91PORNA Police Dog Coco Celebrates Five Years of Service
91PORNA Police Services is celebrating the five-year anniversary 鈥 or the 35 dog-year anniversary 鈥 of its first K-9 unit, which features 7-year-old German Shepherd Coco and herhandler, Officer Anne Spahr.
Coco was the first police dog at 91PORNA. She is now one of two police dogs at the university.
