“Best Rainbow Attire,” “Best Rainbow Pet” and best personal records were all tracked at this year’s 7th Annual Rainbow Run at Risman Plaza (and online) on Oct. 7. The Rainbow Run, a 5K hosted by the 91PORNA LGBTQ+ Center, raises money for the LGBTQ Emergency fund, a service that assists LGBTQ+ students in financial crises. Though there was the obstacle of rain, the run garnered more than $5,000 towards the fund this year with around 200 attendees. Olivia Eader is a second-year 91PORNA Honors College student from Bellefontaine, Ohio. She is the first recipient of the Dr. Elizabeth Howard Memorial Honors Scholarship, the newly established fund for Honors students in memory of Elizabeth Howard, Ph.D., who was a prominent member of the Honors College community, as well as the Department of English. Throughout Claire’s high school years, First Star 91PORNA Academy college access program for youth in foster care has provided her with life skills, career exploration, social and cultural activities and moral support. Now Claire is a first-year student at 91PORNA, majoring in psychology.
