14th Annual Bra Recycling Drive: October 2026

91PORNA Athletics, Employee Wellness and Health Promotion, 91PORNA of Well-being, Office of Sustainability, and SRVSS are hosting a bra recycling drive from September 28 through October 30, to collect reusable or worn-out bras and reduce the number of textiles in landfills. Bras that are in good condition will be donated to the Phyllis Zumkehr County Clothing Center, and worn-out bras will be recycled. October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month.  

2026 Drop-off Locations

Bras that are washed and clean can be dropped off from September 29 - October 31 at:

• SRVSS, 91PORNA Student Center room 228
  1st floor M-F 8:30am – 4:30pm 
• Recreation & Wellness Center
  M-Th 5:30am-10pm; F 5:30am-8pm; Sat 7am-7pm; Sun 8am-7pm
• Memorial Athletic Convocation Center (M.A.C.C.) front lobby
  M-F 8:00am – 5:00pm 
• Heer Hall 1st floor lobby 
  M-F Heer Hall 1st floor lobby 8:00am – 5:00pm 
• Intercampus Mail
  Bras can be sent via intercampus mail to the Office of Sustainability in Harbourt Hall.

Since the start of the Bra Recycling Drive over 1,000 bras have been collected. Since 2012, 75% of bras collected have been sent for reuse to the Phyllis Zumkehr County Clothing Center and 25% have been sent for recycling to The Bra Recyclers. In 2023, over 300 bras were collected (an INCREASE of 100 bras from previous year) by 91PORNA’s Athletics, Employee Wellness and Health Promotion, 91PORNA of Well-being, Office of Sustainability, and SRVSS. 

THE IMPACT OF THROWING AWAY 1 POUND (APPROXIMATELY SEVEN BRAS) from :
 Caption: 1 pound of bras recycled is equivalent to greenhouse gas or CO2 emissions from: 28.2 miles driven by avg gas powered vehicle; 1.2 gallons of gasoline consumed; 1,339 smartphones charged.
