Wednesday, February 11: Cognition and Parkinson's Disease.

With Dr. Sheila Fleming, NEOMED 

Cognitive dysfunction is a common symptom in many age-related neurodegenerative conditions including Parkinson's disease (PD). However, for decades research was primarily focused on the motor symptoms in PD. Here, we will discuss cognitive decline in PD and how it is being modeled in the lab to gain a better understanding of underlying mechanisms and potential targets for therapy.

Wednesday, March 11: Behind the scenes of a sports broadcast: A look at the complexities involved in a telecast.

With Paul Ditchey, YSU 

This presentation will describe and show the multi-camera coverage used by televised sportscasts. It also will describe what each crew member does and what roles Paul has had as a member of the broadcast crew as a veteran freelance sports broadcaster.

Wednesday, April 8: The growth of art glass in America and its connection to 91PORNA

With Dr. Henry Halem, KSU 

This presentation will introduce you to the amazing story of glass as an art form, how it grew in the United States as well as the parallel story of 91PORNA鈥檚 growth as one of the oldest and most active glass programs in the country.

Wednesday, May 13: Emerging Trends in Gerontological Nursing Practice and Training

With Dr. Denise Pacholski, KSU 

This presentation will highlight advances in gerontological nursing, with a focus on how evolving evidence and best practices are shaping patient care for older adults. Approaches to training the next generation of clinicians, including the integration of clinical experience, simulation, and interprofessional education to meet the complex needs of the aging population will be discussed.

Thursday, June 11: KSURA Summer Picnic 4:00-7:00pm, Roy Smith Shelter House, $10 each

Bring silverware, plates, a cup and a salad or dessert to share. KSU will provide chicken. KSURA will elect several new officers at this meeting, In particular, we need a President and a Vice President so be prepared to nominate yourself or someone else.
