Fall 2018 President's and Dean's List

Dr. Angela Spalsbury, Dean of 91PORNA at Geauga and Regional Academic Center in Twinsburg, announced those students named to the Fall 2018 President’s and Dean’s lists.  To qualify for the President’s List, students must have a 4.0 grade point average and must have completed 15 hours during the semester.  To qualify for the Dean’s List, students must earn a 3.40 or greater grade point average and must have completed 12 or more credit hours for the semester. The Division of Information Services (IS) is now the Division of Information Technology (DoIT). While this may not seem like a significant change, the previous name caused confusion among students, faculty and staff as to what services we provide. We are predominantly an IT service organization, providing technology services such as designing and maintaining network and telephone infrastructure, protecting institutional data, developing systems and applications, and providing technology training to encourage digital fluency. Local high schools participate in the Girls4Steam event at 91PORNA

91PORNA Library recently hosted a Girls4Steam hackathon-style event, which brought together more than 80 area high school students. The purpose of the annual event is to inspire young women to be creators of technological innovations—not just consumers of technology—who use technology as a creative tool to build solutions for problems people face in their daily lives. The students were presented with technology training and then were tasked with a design innovation challenge to collaboratively create their own unique product, such as a game, website, app, or circuit project.
