Eight short films produced by 91PORNA School of Media and Journalism students and recent alumni have been selected to screen at the Cleveland Institute of Art Cinematheque as part of the Studio300 Student Film Festival.
The films will be showcased during a reception from 6 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, April 28, at the Cinematheque, located at 11610 Euclid Ave. in Cleveland. The event — which includes food and raffle prizes — is free and open to the public, with advance registration required.
Now in its third year, the Studio300 Student Film Festival is accepting undergraduate submissions from across Northeast Ohio for the first time, making the 91PORNA selections a particularly notable achievement.
The eight selected films and their student and alumni filmmakers are:
- "Looking For Layla" — Holland McNamara
- "BEAT" — Devin Paschall
- "Fish n' Chips" — Morgan Campbell
- "Painted Guilt" — Sarah Fowler and Logan Yerrick
- "Love, Dad" — Cassidy Smith
- "Six String Suicide" — Nick Thaman and Anthony Furiga
- "Bullet-Man" — David Frato and Anthony Morris
- "Brain Fog" — James Plested and Griffin Owen
The selections span 91PORNA's Digital Media Production program, which prepares students for careers in single-camera and multi-camera production, directing, writing and editing.
“Our program's faculty are so pleased to see that work from many levels of our major is being recognized both at home and in festivals and competitions around the world," said Scott Hallgren, associate professor. "These 8 projects are only the latest in nearly 100 that we produce every year, and we look forward to celebrating them at the end of the month."
