Get your boarding pass ready, SkyHack takes flight this November.
Presented by the Design Innovation Initiative and the College of Aeronautics and Engineering at 91PORNA, the weekend-long aviation focused design challenge will run Nov. 3-5 in the Design Innovation Hub. is free and open to undergraduate and graduate students from any U.S. university.
During the hackathon, teams consisting of 2-6 students will work together on a design that addresses an aviation challenge in the areas of aerospace, advanced air mobility, travel experience and piloting. Participants from all majors can compete in the hackathon.
鈥淏eing a part of the College of Aeronautics and Engineering has directly tied me to people who are a part of the aeronautics programs,鈥 said Sydney Smith, a junior applied engineering major and co-producer of the event. 鈥淒ue to the name, I had just assumed SkyHack was more geared toward them. As a student employee, I have been able to see the behind-the-scenes of what goes into a hackathon this size and the power that a diversity of majors can bring.鈥
Teams will use their skills and experience to build a project entirely at the event. The DI Hub has a variety of workspaces, equipment and hardware for teams to use. A full list will be available closer to the event date.
鈥淪kyHack is for anyone and everyone who wants to use their specific skill set to collaborate with other creative minds,鈥 said Katie Criswell, a junior communication studies major and co-producer of the event. 鈥淚 look forward to seeing the design challenges that students innovatively work through together as a team.鈥
